Owen Sound Bay, Fall Rainbow Fishing
Owen Sound Bay, Fall Rainbow are not the easiest fish to catch with a boat. The water is clear and the fish spook easily. Most fish are caught from shore along the harbour wall and up to the Mill Dam. For the inexperienced fisherman you can try casting a small spoon or body bait. The experienced fisherman can use a single egg with a 2 or 4 pound leader line. Night fishing can also be good.
The Rainbow run starts after the Salmon run in October and lasts all winter until early spring.
Important: Go to a local tackle shop and buy the lure recommended. We know of only four lures that do well.
Note: Owen Sound Rainbow are not easy to catch.
4 to 8 pound fish are common but there are 14 pound Rainbow.
